USB transfer speed slows down and fails during transfer

Post by ironmeister »

When trasferring files to a USB, the transfer speed drops rapidly and continuously after about 4-5 seconds. If the file is large enough (~3Gb) it will fail. Any ideas? This really sucks.

Have you tried other flash drives?

Please post the output of this terminal command:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
Enclose the results in code markers, which you can select from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply.

don't be fooled by that initial transfer rate, as that is just filling the cache up,
and then you get the actual transfer speed, for the file being moved.

this is one area, where some Linux Systems are not as great as the World of Windows,
& which this sort of thing is designed to work with.
