I booted up my laptop tonight and got the following error:
The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_mintMenu". Do you want to delete that applet from your configuration?
I've tried answering "No" and answering "Yes" to the above question with no result.
Now I have no mintMenu (I think that's what it's called...the menu at the lower-left that lets you select programs to run). I can't think of anything I might have done to cause this. So far, I've tried reinstalling gnome-applets, gnome-applets-data, and mintmenu from the command line by doing this:
aptitude reinstall [insert name of applet here]
But mintMenu (if that's what it's called) is still nowhere to be seen. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Re: mintMenu missing
right click on the panel and choose "Add to Panel".
scroll down to utilities and choose "Linux Mint Menu".
click the add button.
once added you may have to move it to the desired position.

Re: mintMenu missing
Thanks! I'm stuck in Windows-land at work right now, but when I get home I'll try that. Sounds pretty easy.Boo wrote:right click on the panel and choose "Add to Panel".

Re: mintMenu missing
I tried your suggestion and got the same error I reported above. However, I have been able to add the "Main Menu" applet to the panel, which is a lot better than nothing.
Would anyone out there have any idea what I need to do to get "Linux Mint Menu" back? I'm loving the Mint, but I'm hoping I won't need to reinstall my OS to get mintMenu back.

I ran the above, and the output is:lars wrote:Hi motoperpetuo
Could you open a terminal and paste `/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu/mintMenu_frontend.py run-in-window` and post the output here in the forum?
Lars
No module named gnomeapplet
Re: mintMenu missing
Awesome! mintMenu is back now. All I had to do was:lars wrote:Uhm... don't know why but it seems that 'python-gnome2-desktop' has been uninstalled on your system. It is needed in order to run mintMenu.
1) Run this from the command line:
aptitude install python-gnome2-desktop
2) Re-add mintMenu to the panel as Boo suggested above.
I really, really appreciate both of your help.
Re: mintMenu missing
Btw, is there a way to mark this thread as "resolved" like over in the Ubuntu forums? What about Thank Yous? Do we have those?
Re: mintMenu missing
you could add [solved] to the subject.
