Lost alt-f2 [SOLVED]

Just installed Mate (was Cinnamon) and compiz, now alt-f2 doesn't show a laucher anymore. How to get it back?

unfortunately it doesnt work with compiz. becaus compiz doesnt have mate plugin.
disable alt-f2 from gnome compatibility in compiz settings
and then install package called grun (sudo apt-get install grun)
then make a custom keybind in compiz for grun and set it to alt+f2
its not the same alt-f2 functionality but pretty similar

Hi there,

I had the same problem so I disabled the compiz setting as described but I had another step. I went into Keyboard Shortcuts and configured Alt+F2 there with "grun" as the command.

thought I would add this in case others are struggling with it.

I don't like grun very much and prefer the original run dialog from Mate Panel.
