SOLVED - Making Alt-F1 access Main Menu instead of app menu

Post by Emerson Prado »

Hi all,
I use LMDE both at home and at work, with Mate desktop. This setup has one panel in the bottom and other in the top, with Applications, Locals and System Menus. I want to remove them and switch to the Main Menu, which takes less keystrokes to use, and I find it cleaner.
I then added Main Menu to the top panel but, when I hit Alt-F1, the Application Menu opens. How do I teach my system to open the Main Menu instead?
Many thanks,
Emerson

If you get rid of the menu button all together, alt+f1 will then open the main menu wherever your mouse pointer happens to be.
