Just installed Mint 17 Mate 64bit.
The 'hide windows and display desktop' function seems to hang the system requiring a reboot?
Is this a known problem?

Re: Problem with Mint 17 Mate hide windows function
Can you provide more details about your system by running
in the terminal?
Please then post the results of that by using the code function in a reply here. The "hide windows and show the desktop" is working fine for me on LM Mate 17.
Code: Select all
inxi -Fxz

fwiw, neighbor had much the same kind of problems--freezing, mouse moved fine but could not click on anything, could not minimize open screens, etc.
It turned out he had a funky dl of 17v2 Mate 64 and did not verify the checksum. We reinstalled using my copy and the problem has never returned.

I think I solved this by going to Desktop Settings, Windows and then enabling Use Compositing box.
