When I change the controls (appearance > customize > controls) to anything other than Mint-X, or ThinIce, the names of files and folders becomes faded in Caja when using "compact view".
The text is also faded after navigating from a folder in list view to one in icon view. I am using Linux Mint 17.1 and Caja 1.8.2. This problem never occurred with Linux Mint 17.

Have you tried installing some different GTK3 themes?

Tried downloading one, but got an error. I am assuming that most themes will have the same problem anyway, because 7 out 9 of the control styles that I already have are broken.austin.texas wrote:Have you tried installing some different GTK3 themes?

Re: Faded Text For Files and Folders in Caja
You can change the colors for any theme. Here are the instructions (written for Mint 16, but can be applied to Mint 13 or 17)
How to change the colors of a GTK theme

Edit gtk.css and change the define-color text_color line to create the color you want.

Re: Faded Text For Files and Folders in Caja
It seems that these instructions can't be applied to a theme other than Mint-X (Mint-X never has the faded text glitch), because the other themes don't contain any files that have the the define-color text_color line. I am not sure if this is a problem with the text color, because the text always looks ok when using icon view.
