Mate 1.14

Post by leadwtZ » Sun Jul 31, 2016 3:55 pm

Is Mate 1.14 going to appear in the 'Rosa' repos?

And if not, why not?

Thanks.

G'day leadwtZ. :) Mate 1.14 will not be in Rosa's repos... you'll have to upgrade to Sarah (or switch to LMDE 2) for that.

All Mint releases ship with a certain DE and a certain version of the DE, and except for minor updates do not change. Rosa may get small updates for Mate, maybe for example an update from 1.12.1 to 1.12.2, but you will have to upgrade the entire OS to get a newer DE.
In the same way, Sarah will not get Mate 1.16, though Mint 18.1 should.

Only LMDE upgrades the DE in-place, the Ubuntu-based Mint does not.

Fred: LMDE user here. we are on 1.14.1 now. when do you expect we will get the 1.16 update? (released 2016-09-21)
thanks

It's out? Wahoo!

I expect a couple of weeks gap - about this much time transpired between the release of 1.14 and the update for Betsy.
Then again, I don't speak for the Mint team so take this with a grain (or bucket) of salt.
