[SOLVED] Strange different Mate Versions lead to conflict

Post by peterling »

Again me - sorry

I wanted to reinstall my desktop cuz first I killed my menu bar by configuring "compiz" and "marco" (via "Mate Finetuning") and second my windows suddenly were slightly transparent.

(the menu bar I got back with:)

Code: Select all

F2
then enter

Code: Select all

mate-terminal
then execute:

Code: Select all

mate-panel --reset
But then my "Menu" button on the left of my bar was gone. I then thought I will reconfigure this Desktop environment cuz I had other tiny glitches as well. So I entered:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install --reinstall mate-core mate-desktop-environment mate-desktop-environment-extras
I had so dependencies to solve which were easy to fulfill but then left me back with this:
Read package lists ... Done
Dependency tree is built.
Status information is read in .... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that
You have requested an impossible situation or if you have the
Unstable distribution use some required packages yet
Have not been created or have not yet left Incoming.
The following information may help you solve the situation:

The following packages have unfulfilled dependencies:
Mate-core: Depends on: mate-desktop-environment-core (= 1.12.0 + 1) but 2016.07.23 is to be installed
Mate-desktop-environment-extras: Depends on: mate-desktop-environment (= 1.12.0 + 1) but 2016.07.23 should be installed
Recommends: mate-netspeed (> = 1.12.0) should not be installed
E: Problems can not be corrected, you have backed up defective packages.
All my other packages are: 1.14.1-1+sarah
Only some packages are: 2016.07.23

Is this a reason to worry? Is there sth. wrong?? Thanks for hints and help!
