Every time I change anything in panel.....rearranging icons, change color...., Firefox, Thunderbird, or any open windows WILL NOT minimize. It's just dissapear. It is not visible on panel. Do any one know how to fix it? Thanx for any help in advance.

Hi Retp,
The panel applet responsible for showing opened windows is 'Windows List'
You can add this back by right-clicking an empty space on the panel and choose
'Add to Panel'. Scroll down and highlight 'Windows List' and click 'Add'

You can reset your panel to default fresh install status by opening a terminal and entering:

I have another question. This time is my friend's Computer. He tried Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya Mate run from USB bootable drive just for trial before installation. In Keyboard windows, clicking on ADD (for adding another language) windows with this function just appear for half second, then disappear. So, adding language is impossible. Same thing happens when he freshly installed that version from sane USB drive. I do not have any problem to do the same thing and installed another language successfully. Any idea what is going on? Thanx for any help in advance.

Did he verify the ISO before burning it? It may have been defective.

Say more about your friends computer maker, model number.
Are you are saying he was able to boot and use 18.2 Mate from the usb drive--
but when he decided to install he came across these issues?

You can always add languages and keyboard preferences after Mint is hd installed

Hi all41. Computer is Home build, Asus motherboard. If you need model # I can get it for you. This is that troubled situation: We need to add different keyboard layout. Do not need install any additional language, just keyboard layout - Czech Qwerty. When we open Keyboard Preferences and click on "Layouts", new window will open. Clicking on "Add......" should give us new window, where we can chose what to add. Problem is, this windows open just for half second, then disappear. So, there is no way, no how to add any additional keyboard layout. do you have ant idea what is going on? Thanx for any help in advance.

Try running the command in a terminal: Will that allow the keyboard layout dialogue to remain open?

Yes, keyboard layout dialogue will open, but clicking there on :Add..." will do the same. Just blink for sec and nothing. Next window will not open. Any other suggestion?

This seems to be a never ending condition. Is there a permanent fix, outside of not messing with anything once it is placed in the panel?. I have heard there is a Mint 18.3 Sonya. Does this still happen in that version?
