One of the main reasons I have preferred Mate over Cinnamon is the ability to drop a file or folder directly onto the panels and creates a link. I've upgraded 3 computers to 18.2 and Mate 1.18 and on one it took away my links and on all not able to drag file/folders to it anymore. Very annoying as I love this feature.
Is there a setting to re-enable?

You can try resetting the panel to installation default by opening a terminal and enter or copy/paste:
Code: Select all
mate-panel --reset
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.

Thanks, hope to see it fixed as it's a feature that separates itself from Cinnamon.Monsta wrote:viewtopic.php?f=206&t=248800

The capacity to pin Folders to the Mate panel was one of the great points in its favour: I really hope this can be fixed.

I do too. I don't mean to be petty with complaints but it's a major deal to me. Is one reason I wouldn't use Cinnamon.2xa wrote:The capacity to pin Folders to the Mate panel was one of the great points in its favour: I really hope this can be fixed.
Is there a way to manually change some desktop settings to allow until they fix this?

A MATE/caja update just came out today that now allows dragging files/folders on the panel.
Yay, so nice to have this back!
