[SOLVED] Browse media when inserted
I'm running Mint 18.2 Mate and I'd like that, when I insert an USB Stick or an external HDD, the default file manager automatically opens it for browsing.
I had been using Mint 18.1 and this behavior worked for HDDs but not for USB Sticks. Now in 18.2 it works for neither.
I'm aware that in the file manager in Edit -> Preferences -> Media there is an option "Browse media when inserted". But checked or unchecked the behavior is the same.
I anyone has any suggestion on how I could get this to work, I'd be thankful.

Re: Browse media when inserted
This may sound a bit obvious but did you reboot after?

Re: Browse media when inserted
Hoser Rob, thank you for your answer.
Yes indeed, the problem is persistent. For HDD ever since the upgrade to 18.2 and for USB sticks, if I recall well, since 18.1 (which was my first Mate install).
So I've played with this setting a number of times, and rebooted also several times since then, and the behavior is always the same.
I can add that I have four computers with LM 18.2 and the behavior in this respect is homogeneous among them.

Re: Browse media when inserted
I confirm this issue. Noticed it right away the first time I plugged in a USB after updating. Does anyone know if this is a bug, or by design?
Re: Browse media when inserted
Schultz, I'm glad to know that likely it wasn't me who messed things up here somehow.
It might well be by design that "browse media when inserted" is no longer the system's default. But I would not classify as a feature the fact that an existing option does not respond.
The fact that you observed the same behavior in the same occasion is indicative of an eventual bug, but I have know idea of how many people are affected.
Do you think that this should be reported? (If so, where?)
Still, does anyone see a way to correct it in the meantime?

Probably here: https://github.com/mate-desktopgusbrs wrote:

I'd do it but I don't have a github account.
Re: Browse media when inserted
Well, just found out that was already done: https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja/issues/807
In the meantime, I guess I'll have to live with it.
Thank you all!

Monsta, thank you very much for reporting.
And, if I understood correctly, thank you (and all those involved) especially for the fix!
