panel problems

I did an upgrade from 18.1 to 18.2. Its sorted some problems, not sorted others, but caused new ones. Plus points very quick and easy. However the main problem is with my panels or more specifically applets which keep crashing. The problem is not apparent until I select transparency. Then almost all applets crash out. Any solutions to this one I prefer an autohide transparent panel.

Did clean install of 18.2. Still have the problem with autohide selected not transparency.

in Control Center > Desktop Settings > Windows select Marco+Compositing or Marco+Compton

It would help if you said which DE you're using. There's no useful info there ... copy/paste this into the terminal and copy/paste the text output here:

Thanks for your kind replies trytip the choice of marco and comptom whatever they are (marco is metacity?) has almost totally solved the problem (and a the dark rectangle round cairo that appears momentarily has gone) but I still had a crash of applets from the tool bar on boot the other day although it almost gone. I have left off replying for a few days to try it out. Ta.

with compton active you can finetune by adding a config file (delete this file if things go bad and you will run compton with default settings)
in ~/.config/ folder create a blank text name it compton.conf paste this code and save, then logOFF/logON

there are many compron.conf online so you may need to test out a few depending on how they work for you and whether you have intel/nvidia/amd search google for compton config files

Thanks will think about problem is largely solved its a long time since i've hacked an xconf type file.... :D
