Mate official setting to change default app directories (solved)

Post by lmuserx4849 »

For an existing user, KDE has a System Setting to officially change the location of directories that applications use by default.
Does Mate have an official place to change the default directory applications will use?
The directories are Music, Pictures, Videos. I put them all under Media.

I looked in Mate's Control Center and scanned gsettings and didn't see anything.

for s in $(gsettings list-schemas); do gsettings list-recursively "$s"; done | less

However, when I grepped $HOME/.config I found a file user-dirs.dirs that contained them. I think I answered my own question :-). Just change the file names in this file and manually move the files. Cool.
