Upgrade from LM 18.0 MATE to 18.1 or 18.2
I am on LM 18.0 MATE on my test machine. I wish to upgrade to 18.1 MATE and then to 18.2 MATE for testing purposes. The only upgrade shown in Update Manager --> Edit is upgrading to 18.3 MATE. Is there a way to upgrade by one release at a time? Ubuntu has always had a seamless way to do this. Why doesn't Mint? Thanks.

You can manually edit your sources to reflect the progressive upgrades, like:
sudo xed /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list
The version names are available at:

Is there any specific reason why you don't want to directly go to 18.3?Is there a way to upgrade by one release at a time?

Yes, I really don't care for 18.3. Especially, what Mozilla has done with Firefox 57. Ugh! The new software center is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Overall, the LM 18.xx series is buggy compared to the LM 17.xx releases which were Mint's best of all, especially 17.3 which I use for daily production. However, I will continue with Mint and test other distros along the way.
