Is there a way of having a MPRIS in Linux Mint Mate, something like this:
Either on the sound icon (volume icon) in the panel or in another panel item?
Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia, MATE 1.18.0
MPRIS sound applet on Linux Mint Mate panel, is there one?

https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/application ... te-daemon/

See if those do what you want.

Thank you very much for helping me.
Yes it seems like both can do what I had in mind, still couldn't get any to work but I'll browse a bit more about them. Mpd returns errors (i.e. permission denied) and Panflute seems not to be compatible with xenial (for what I could find it hasn't been updated since 2010).

Probably both of them are not compatible anymore with the current OS versions, tried some things but could not get any of them to work.
Also found and tried indicator-sound-gtk2 which doesn't work either, which is strange because I have it working on Ubuntu-Mate 17.10.
