Can I create/add a menu item 'switch user' ?
or perhaps a menu item for 'switch to Joe' (or another user name)
I am a recent convert from Win10 where this menu item was available and used.
thanks

Re: Menu item for 'switch user' ?
The best I find is to click the Menu button, then click Logout, then Switch User.

Re: Menu item for 'switch user' ?
Greetings! Ime, while the MATE desktop appears to be limited in what you're looking for, the XFCE4 desktop supports your requirement via its "xfswitch-plugin". The crux of the matter is that the DE must save the state of the current user's session (running apps etc) then (re)instate the next user's session (possibly where it left off before). I found that this works quite well for a family's use of a single laptop/desktop ... Good luck!
