Mate - how to add desktop desklets or screenlets?

Post by phd21 »

Hi Everyone,

I just installed a full version of Linux Mint Mate to a USB stick to test some various things related to the Mate desktop for other Linux Mint Mate forum members and for my own curiosity.

How do you add desktop desklets or screenlets to the Mate desktop? In Cinnamon there is the "desklets" option, and in KDE there is the desktop right-click "add widgets", not sure what "Xfce" has. Obviously, anyone can install Linux applications that will show on the desktop, but are there specific ones for the Mate desktop?

I did some research on this and so far found these articles:
