New installation, desktop settings

Post by maccabbeo »

Hi to all,

FIRST QUESTION
I've been exploring some desktop settings in order to better adapt the desktop look to my taste.
Unfortunately what I unexpectedly got is the change of the main menu style.

I got this before and I liked it

but now I got the following one and I do not like it:

How to restore the previous menu?

SECOND QUESTION
I got a brand new ASUS laptop with screen resolution set to 1920x1080 . As a consequence, all the software appears with quite small characters and icons. I've been able to increase the bars size, but I do not know how to increase the characters size of the various software. Is it possible to make everything more visible/readable? Or should I just renounce to that too high resolution?

Thanks,
Regards.

First question only:

Right click an empty space in the panel and choose 'Add to Panel', then scroll down to 'mint menu advanced menu', then click Add button.
You will have to move it to the correct position.

Or you can open a terminal and enter:

Code: Select all

mate-panel --reset
That will return the panel to it's default settings and you will have to add back customizations

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately it did not work. I run the command and what I got again is the same menu as in the second picture.

Any other suggestion, please?

Thanks.
Regards.

The menu in the first picture is 'mintMenu advanced menu'
The menu in the second picture is 'Menu Bar'

Both are available by right clicking an empty spot on the panel and choosing 'Add to Panel'
Scroll down to see them:

Select the advanced menu and at the bottom of the page click add.
It should appear somewhere in the panel.
you can also:

Code: Select all

mintmenu --reset
