I'm trying to disable the window snapping that happens when I drag a window to the top of the screen. I see plenty of instructions to disable side-by-side tiling under the Menu / Control Center / Look and Feel / Windows / Placement tab, but I don't have that option. When I click Windows, all I get is a Metacity Preferences dialog asking if I want software compositing enabled. (if I use compiz, the dialog says "The current window manager is unsupported".)
Is the side-by-side tiling option hidden somewhere else?
I'm running 18.3 64-bit, MATE 1.18.0.

Look for mate-tweak:
Configures some aspects of the MATE desktop not exposed via the
MATE Control Center applets.
Settings that can be handled via MATE Tweak:
- Show/hide standard desktop icons
- Panel fine-tuning (icon visibility, in menus and on buttons, icon size, button labelling, contex menus, etc.)
- Window manager fine-tuning
