caja slider problem never fixed

I've been using Mint with Mate for some years and in every version (latest I am using is 19.3) the slider bar on the right hand side often (very often) won't pull down properly with the mouse. It becomes thinner and moves down slowly as the mouse is dragged down the screen. I have to release the mouse and re-click on the slider. It's been doing this for literally years. I have installed several times from bare metal so I don't think it's a quirk in my setup.

Hasn't anyone else had this experience? If so why has it not been fixed?

Where do I report it as a bug?

(Otherwise Mint with Mate is great!)

Thanks for the info. I went to the Mate Github link and the caja section. I trawled through the open issues to see if it had been reported, but couldn't find it. There are 344 issues going back to 2012. It looks like reporting this would be a waste of time.

Any suggestions for a replacement for caja?
