LM 20.2 MATE - Wacom Woes...

Post by Kreative »

Fresh Install of LM 20.2 MATE 1.24.0 I thought this might be a good change from LM 20.1 Xfce -- Not thus far...

wm: marco dm
Desktop Hardware: Intel i5-3570 integrated HD Graphics 2500, 16GB DDR3 SDRAM

Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch Graphics Tablet Icon NOT Found Nor Listed under Mouse Controls like Xfce does.
GNOME 3 on Fedora; Wacom has it's own icon at least. G3 is not good match for my workflow.

MATE Weather Icons Breaks from Time to Time, Xfce had a lot less problem w/ this.

Preferred Applications sorta works SeaMonkey Browser/e-Mail NOT Listed as Default! Please add SM and LibreWolf Code & AppImage to the Repositories; I dislike flatpaks and Snaps.

ClamTK scans under MATE 1.24.0 VERY-VERY SLOW compared to LM 20.1 Xfce

MATE does NOT let me 'Rotate Wallpapers' Like Xfce does.
*TIP - This helps with Screen burn-in + Screen Saver (LCDscrub, Morie2, TimeTunnel) when using Light Window Themes.

On a Positive MATE Note: Caja FM is GREAT 8)

Try Mint Cinnamon. My old Bamboo graphics tablet was recognized immediately.
In Cinnamon there is a settings program for graphics tablets.
I was able to put the drawing surface on one of the two monitors and assign the pen the commands I wanted.

... and if you like Caja, you will also be very pleased with Nemo.

Thanks for the advice, but already found a solution... I switched back to Xfce two days ago.

Cinnamon is nice, but it uses a lot more resources on Mint, on Debian it's 700 something, I also like their layout better for some odd reason. I guess, it's because I also like the default Debian's Xfce layout too... I got to change that color ASAP ;}

I made LM MATE a little faster; removed Compiz, which helped a little with faster ClamTK AV scans.... still no where as fast as LM Xfce. Fedora Xfce was the fastest I personally used; however they update a little too fast for my needs.
