Can't rotate screen
I built a new computer tonight. AMD Ryzen 5, ASUS 5600G motherboard, 512 GB NVMe drive, 32GB RAM.
Freshly installed Mint 20.2 with MATE.
Copied over my desktop folder, document folder, downloads folder, and Thunderbird profile from my old computer's SATA SSD. Everything went fine.
But there's one weird glitch. I like to use my monitor in portrait mode, and when I went into the display settings, I only have "normal" in the rotation drop-down menu.
How do I get the rotation options back? This is important for me.

Re: Can't rotate screen
Is it freshly upgraded to a kernel newer than 5.4? You have not provided inxi output, but with a 5000 series Ryzen I would recommend upgrading to the 5.13 kernel available in Update Manager.

Re: Can't rotate screen
I updated to 5.13. Two positive changes in the display settings: 1., Now it says Dell 22" (correct), whereas before it said monitor unknown. 2. Now it shows the rotation options, whereas before it only showed 'normal'. But the rotation still doesn't work properly. When I chose a rotation and applied it, the screen turns, but: 1. The whole thing shifts oddly (see picture), and it's back to normal mode when I reboot.
Re: Can't rotate screen
That seems to indicate the newer graphics driver in the kernel helped get the monitor recognized.
Please give us information about your install by entering this command in a terminal:
inxi -Fxxxrz
Click

from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply and then place your cursor between the code markers and paste the results of the command between the code markers
Results
. This will let us know how Mint sees your hardware and maybe give us some more ideas of what to try. Also provide the output of
xrandr
and enclose the results in the code tags.A woman typing on a laptop with LM20.3 Cinnamon.

Re: Can't rotate screen
The 5.13.0-22 kernel became available today.

Upgrade to it and see if it helps. I see listed in the changelog which sounds like it could relate to this issue.
If that newer kernel version does not help, you could try the 5.14-oem kernel. Install the latest 5.14-oem kernel with
Additionally, if I have the correct link Product Support For PRIME B550M-A AC: BIOS & FIRMWARE, it appears there have been some updates since the version you have installed. The latest is version 2423 and there are some AMD updates and some "improve system stability" updates along the way.

Re: Can't rotate screen
The newer kernels didn't help.
I downloaded the motherboard software. It has two files -- one is a DOS/Windows .exe and the other is a ".cap" file.

Re: Can't rotate screen
I suggest checking your motherboard manual. I do not know what methods ASUS provides for updating a non-Windows install.

Re: Can't rotate screen
The manual directed me to put that .CAP file on a memory stick and install it through a BIOS flashing utility. Did that, worked fine.
But the problem remains.

Re: Can't rotate screen
Well this is weird.
I have Mint with Mate. I recall in my old computer (where the rotation worked fine), I had Gnome, so I went to Google and looked up how to install it.
Did that, but Gnome booted and looked totally bizarre. Ack! So I logged out and reselected Mate.
When it logged back into Mate, it suddenly was in the correct (for me -- 90 degrees right) rotation!!!
What the heck?

Re: Can't rotate screen
I don't use MATE, so I do not know what might have happened. However, if it is working, I hoped it stays that way.
