Mint Mate 20.2 Freezing requires Reboot (SOLVED)

Post by frostymusic »

I have had some freezing. One instance I had Thunderbird open, clicked on FF to open, and it froze. Other time had one browser open FF, and wanted to open Librewolf, freezing. I see there are some crash reports generated.

Have a look around the 'MATE' specific section of the forum (maybe even post your problem there also?) and see if you can find some answers there:

Laptop overheating? Check link here:itsfoss guide . Also a move from Cinnamon to XFCE can give a -5 to -10 degrees C change on overheating hardware.

I get freezing when switching apps, not always, just a sometimes thing. Using FF, and also opening Librewolf, or having Thunderbird open and opening FF. Everything freezes, no keyboard, mouse, nothing. I see that there are some logs created, don't know what to do with them?

The latest available 5.13 kernel is 5.13.0-27. See if updating your kernel helps.
