Notification Area

Post by atlmint »

The "Notification Area" has gone missing in my Linux Mint 8 install. I tried recovering using the "Add to Panel" option and selecting notification area and selecting "add" to no avail.

Is there any other alternative approach and a known fix to this problem.

I have 2 installations of Linux Mint 8: a laptop (used heavily) that has never experienced this problem and a AMD desktop running 64-bit version seldom used which suddenly experienced this issue.

Thanks!

Try renaming the hidden .gconf folder in you home then log out and back in. Note this will set all your desktop settings to default.
