Right click on an empty spot in the panel, select add applets to panel, pick the calendar applet, click the add button in the bottom toolbar. Close the applet settings module, Optionally right click on panel again, activate panel-edit mode, move your calendar applet to the desired spot. Switch of panel-edit mode. Done
