Cinnamon does not autologin or start X after 19.2 upgrade

Post by bookter » Tue Aug 13, 2019 8:38 pm

I upgraded from 18 to 19 to 19.1 to 19.2. Now upon every reboot it gives me a terminal and I have to log in manually, then start x manually. My printer stopped working mysteriously too, but worked after another reboot.

Any ideas? Thanks...!

Recommended a fresh install when you upgrade from 18 to 19 hence some glitches are expected. That's my take. May be somebody else has some other ideas.

Thanks. It worked two more times but now won't no matter what I do. I'm giving serious thought to trying LMDE or maybe just plain Debian. I need this machine to be *stable*.

Just installed LMDE. It seems pretty snappy, but only recognizes one of two drives on my external USB drive caddy (BlackX Duet)
