Password help

Post by jdegrandpre »

I have a dual boot system with Mint and Windows 10. All of a sudden I am unable to open Mint. It asks for my password and when I put it in, it says that it's not the correct password, but it is. So, I am not able to use Mint. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi,
Is your computer a laptop or a desktop and what sort of keyboard are you using?
The reason I ask is that if your password has numbers and you are pressing the numberpad without numlock switched on, it might be that? hopefully.

Hi, Jeff.

The issue which comes to my mind is a change in keyboard layout. Could this have happened?
Have you recently change the keyboard layout? From English to German e.g. or to French or to another language?

Regards,
Karl

Nothing has changed. I have made no changes to my computer, keyboard or mouse. Is there a way to change my password?

Jeff,

Given that you're using the correct password, perhaps you should try cleaning your keyboard, brushing and blowing it with canned air.
