Letters go missing on cinnamon menu

Post by tzell »

Hi forum,
Every now and then a letter decides to go missing on cinnamon menu (as seen in picture)
Solves itself after reboot, not sure why that happens.

Any ideas?

So something is running that is replacing every occurrence of an i or I with .

Your issue with Trash was similar in that it fixed itself on reboot.

This does not correspond with when you are running Bleachbit, does it? (Perhaps a file is being cleared out something by Bleachbit and then is recreated at boot time--total guess on my part.)

Did you make any customizations to the menu or are you running the stock menu which comes with Cinnamon?

Hi

Does not correspond with bleachbit, it acts up randomly every now and then regardless.

Didn't make any customization to the menu - I'm running stock menu that comes with Cinnamon.

Is it always the same letter which disappears?

I found this bugreport. It may be the cause somehow. There is no solution yet and I cannot find any work-arounds.
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/6911

EDIT: sorry, I meant to paste this url: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-sh ... ssues/2389
The former is related though.
If you think the issue is solved, edit your original post and add the word solved to the title.
