trying to install applets

Post by 3lud13 »

Trying to install a cuple of applets and as far as I know im meant to put them in .local/share/cinnamon/applets however I couldnt find it so went searching again and found somewhere that you could put them in /usr/share/cinnamon/applets this folder i found so extracted my applets and when i went to copy them in the above folder I get told I cant due to not have permission to write to the destination folder.
Im sure there is a very simple solution as to what i am doing wrong but Im currently out of ideas.

Unless I am mistaken you will want to right click on the folder and select "open as administrator". It will ask you for your password and then you should be good to go.

Are you sure? In your home folder press Ctrl+H to show hidden folders (whose names have a dot). ".local" is there.
Of course you can also install it in usr/share/theme, but if you don't want to enter your password, the first solution is fine.
