Desktop settings reset in the middle of the session

Post by chessmaster942 » Tue Oct 16, 2012 3:33 pm

Several times now, I've been in the middle of a session, when I have to run "cinnamon --replace" to get my desktop back up fine. However a few times now, when cinnamon came back up, it came up as GNOME Classic. A reboot fixed the immediate issue, but all of my setting were lost (window buttons on left, custom shortcuts, terminal colors, etc.).

Am I restarting cinnamon the wrong way, or is it even something that I'm doing? How can I get the settings back? The keyboard shortcut files are still there, I've looked, they're just not being loaded...

I'm currently running Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon x86_64, with way more hardware than required.

Ah, I fixed it. I found a running script I made to manage everything, and it would reset cinnamon as root, which would effectively load root's non-existant preferences.
