Which version of Mint are you running? This is probably unrelated, but, if you're using Nemo, and still have Nautilus installed, it can cause some issues.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove nautilus

I'm using Linux Mint 14 and not using Nemo. Anything else on this.

Nemo controls the desktop in Mint 14. Is Nautilus installed? Nautilus controlled the desktop in previous Mint versions and it can cause a conflict.
