Hello I am using Mint 14 with Cinnamon. I am customizing the default layout a bit. What I would like to have is a panel on top just like the one on the bottom. Would like to have my menu, time, wifi signal volumn etc.. on top and have the bottom panel just for displaying the list of open windows. Is that possible? I couldn't find any way to add another panel. Thanks for the help!

Yes. Cinnamon Settings > Panel, and set "Panel layout" as desired. Then press Alt+F2 and type r, then press enter to restart Cinnamon. You should now have the new panel layout. You can go into panel edit mode for further configuration.

Thanks for the tip, Didn't notice that option at the beginning! Probably due to the stupid allergy hampering my sight today. Have good day.

Sorry that I "hijack" this thread but I was trying the same thing and I wanted to ask if it is possible to add an extra panel to the right of the screen where I can place some starters in to launch programs ? I'm using Xubuntu for a very long time now and when my new laptop arrives I want to install Mint Linux/cinnamon on it.
Like in the example below:

If it's not possible I have to switch to mate or Mint Linux XFCE.

The best way to do that in cinnamon is to use a separate dock program like cairo dock.
