No preview thumbnails in video files

Post by sdim » Mon Dec 02, 2013 4:37 pm

Hi, everyone.
Does anyone know why we don't have preview thumbnails in video files like .avi or .mp4 in Nemo in Mint 16?
I only see the orange preview icon.

Many thanks.

I have had to return to Mint 14 until this problem is resolved. I have thousands of jpeg and some video files and without thumbnails Mint 16 is unworkable for me. Pity.

I thought it was a bug as well, but there is a simple fix (at least it worked for me). Open nemo and go to Edit->Preferences->Preview and change the option "Show thumbnails" to "Always" and the option "Only for files smaller than" to "4GB" (or whatever you want). The thumbnail generation should be ok now.

Thank You akatonomastos for your post, it led me to solving my problem.
I'd not heard of 'nemo' before so was at a loss [excepting a Walt Disney movie years ago], so after some stooging about I found this......

Open any folder in the Home directory. Go to edit on the top left of the screen and click.
Click Preferences -> select Preview at the top of drop down window.
Go to Previewable Files and change "Show thumbnails to Always
Change 'Only for files smaller than' to your choice. I chose 4GB.

Which of course is pretty much what you already posted..
Thank you again,

All is happy with the world once more.....

Many thanks, akatonomastos (ευχαριστώ, φίλε μου).
I seemed to remember that something had to be done in the Preferences dialog, but I couldn't remember the exact thing.
Many thanks to everybody for the answers.

Worked perfectly. Another tip for my notes.
