I just can't find it, my system format uses 24h, but the clock still displays 12h... where is that option hidden?

To switch to 24 hour clock, right-click the clock applet and select "Configure". Click to use a custom date format and set the date format to "%H:%M". Or if you want to include the day, month, and date like on previous Linux Mint Cinnamon releases, set the date format to "%a %b %e, %H:%M".

I used the tool built into Mint. Right-click on the time (bottom right), select Configure. Check 'Use a custom date format'. Click the long bar below the input (Show information on date format syntax - which takes you to http://www.foragoodstrftime.com/ ).

Select your preferred look and the syntax displays the result. Copy-n-paste the syntax into the Date Format field. Works well ... next project ... change screensaver clock from 12hr to 24h display.

Code: Select all

#rem using this code for time:
%a %e%b%Y %H%M:%S
#rem which displays: Wed 18Dec2013 2230:01
