Help! How to show specific drive on desktop

Post by warp »

Linux Mint 16 / Cinnamon

Hi,
Here's my problem:
I have a dozen or so NFS drives/partitions mounted which I do not want/need to see on my desktop.
But I would like to see my Camera c.q. cardreader (with in it my labeled CF / SD cards) to show up on the desktop.

Is there anyway to accomplish such an action?

Love to hear some suggestions.

Thanx

Anything mounted under /media or your home directory will show up with a mount icon on the desktop. If you mount it anywhere else it will not.

So change your mount points for those things you do not want to see on the desktop someplace else - like under /mnt ( the classic choice ) or even under "/" itself.
Please add a [SOLVED] at the end of your original subject header if your question has been answered and solved.

Thanks for the reply.
Wherever mounted, there's still the problem to get it shown, with rw rights, on the desktop.
Maybe I have to look for a solution with "udev-rules".
Example at http://hackaday.com/2009/09/18/how-to-write-udev-rules/

I'll look into it and report the results later on.
