Xpad 4.1-1 slow, very slow. Any suggestion ?

Post by Don_Pedro »

One regret when I switched from Mate to Cinnamon is the lost of the simple and fast Sticky Note.

Xpad 4.1-1 has quality but it is very slow to open and close.
To open : Sticky note --->instantly
Xpad ---------->3 1/2 seconds
To close : Sticky note --->instantly
Xpad ---------->1 1/2 seconds

Is something wrong with my settings ?

A new 4.2 is available on line but not in the software manager library
Is 4.2 resolved this problem ? Is anyone use it?
Any suggestion ?
Thank you in advance

An aside > http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/desklets/view/18 - Does this desklet work for you? You may want to give it a shot.

Anandrkris thank you, I installed StickyNote couple of month ago.

Nice design, but it's a desklet we cannot call it from the panel.
We have to click the desktop icon to get it.
We can't rezise it, "on fly"
Much more annoying we can't past a text just write a text.
Then we have to search where we are coming from to open again the right windows.

I have the feeling that StickyNote is still a project ...

Cordially

Hmm...Tomboy notes can be invoked from panel but does not sit embedded on desktop...

Agree on not being able to invoke from Panel. But am able to paste text, resize it by dragging the borders. There are quite a few options now,I think there were some updates lately as well. Yes, it is evolving project, you may want to give your feedback to improve the desklet.

Your are right....we can resize the pad and past text with Sticky Notes 1.0-Beta
I had an old version (0.89) This version has been installed with Linux Mint 16 on November.
I did not know we have to check manually if an update is available.
The last update yesterday night.

Well a good app to play but not convenient (and stable) to work.I know it's a Beta 1.0.

Xpad is slow but more convenient.

Is it slow for eveyone ?

Yes, unfortunately update manager does not take care of x-lets (desklets, applets, extensions, themes ) upgrade..It has to be done going to each one of them separately..
It can be integrated in my view....

Yes it should be mentioned somewhere .
Plus at "Get More On Line " you can "Install or update" but that does not work , " The Update" if the desklet is installed.

Have a good day.

And why you need to call desklet from panels?
I mean, what resolve this?
What option do you want to have in panel?
The problem it's just maximize the desklet over all apps or any other thing more? because this is a problem on cinnamon, but can be do with a keyboard combination.
