[Solved] How to add templates to Nemo Create New Document?

Post by octathlon » Fri Jul 11, 2014 11:43 am

The Nemo File menu, as well as its right-click context menu, has a submenu "Create New Document" whose first item says "No templates installed" and second item is "Empty Document", which creates a text file.

:?: My question is how to get some templates on that menu, such as LibreOffice Writer or Calc document templates.

Clicking Help in Nemo just takes me to the download page for the Mint User guide, which doesn't have anything about that. I looked to see if there might be a hidden folder for templates somewhere but couldn't find anything.

Save these documents into your "Templates" folder and then they will appear as items in this menu.

Here's "how to" add templates so the right click context menu shows them. http://community.linuxmint.com/idea/view/559

You can download a set of pre-made template files here. They're just empty files, the key is the filename and extension. You have to put them in your home /Templates folder. That's all there is to it. http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=39317

Thank you, that's what I needed. I figured it would be a folder, but I didn't already have one and wasn't sure where it should go and what to name it. :)
