Fail to suspend on lid close

Post by jean.jordaan »

This morning my laptop failed to suspend again (so it's having a heat meltdown when I remove it from my backpack).
I suspect it might be because I was logged in as a second user at the same time (i.e. I "switched user" without logging out the first user). The only reason for my suspicion at this point is that I don't usually do this, and usually suspend works.
(Waking up from hibernate is broken, as mentioned here: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=221852&p=1165844#p1165844 )

Does "failure to suspend" with reasons get logged anywhere?
I don't see anything obvious to me in `dmesg` (apart from 2552 occurrences of `[drm:gen8_irq_handler [i915_bpo]] *ERROR* The master control interrupt lied (SDE)!`)

Your problem is a bit old. Did you ever figure it out? suspend working now?
Did you buy you computer recently or upgrade the BIOS to that June 2015 version?
Other people have the same problem and I'm going on a hunch that it is BIOS related - a rev to the BIOS that Lenovo did.
