disable/dismiss "This media contains digital photos" bar?
When I plug my phone in via USB, a bar appears at the top of the folder window saying "This media contains digital photos" with a button "Open Pix Photo Import Tool". There is no X to dismiss the bar, and clicking "Open Pix Photo Import Tool" doesn't dismiss the bar either.
How do I dismiss the bar, or -- preferably -- disable it entirely?
Mint 18 (64-bit) Cinnamon. Kernel: 4.4.0-21-generic.

In Xfce I can disable that in the File Manager's (Thunar) preferences > Media section.
Do you have the same in your File Manager's preferences ?

In Nemo preferences, on the behaviour tab there is the option "Prompt or autorun/autostart programs when media are inserted" but unchecking it does not fix the problem.Re: disable/dismiss "This media contains digital photos" bar?

Try this:
Open the settings for preferred applications -> removable media and change the setting for "... when a camera is connected".

That removes the "what to do" window popup on media insertion (as does the previous suggestion from richyrich) but it doesn't remove the "this media contains digital photos" bar.
Annoyingly, the phone doesn't even contain any digital photos. There is a DCIM folder, but it is empty, so there isn't anything to import anyway.

Next try:
Open the preferences of Pix -> plugins and disable support for RAW format.

Still getting the bar.by Cosmo. » Fri Sep 16, 2016 11:12 am

Did some more googling and found this . . .
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=587516
. . . which seems to imply that there is no way of disabling this, and that they don't consider it to be a bug. It might be that I have to dig through the Nemo source code and remove this "feature" and recompile, which is a rather more complicated solution to the problem than I was hoping for.
Re: disable/dismiss "This media contains digital photos" bar?
same issue here
I went to caja preferences-media & set to never prompt.
That did NOTHING!
If there is a DCIM directory or images with camera information embedded this annoying bar shows up.
I have come to the conclusion that there is no OFF switch for this annoyance.
It's not a bug - IT'S A FEATURE!
caja
media contains digital photos
open pix photo import tool
I WANT THIS O-F-F-!
I know there are photos on this media!

Try opening
~/.config/mimeapps.list
in a text editor and add these lines to the bottom. Save, logout and log back in.Code: Select all
[Removed Associations]
x-content/image-dcf=pix-import.desktop;
For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.
