[SOLVED] Cannot login after updates

I am running Mint18 Cinamond64, did and update yesterday (Nov 22), and since I cannot log in, I get and error /con/ubuntu/upstart connection refused (or similair) .

I tried to boot from the CD, work just fine, this is how I was able to contact the forum. Any one else has similar problemes?

still have over 120Gb free on HD, where should I start looking?

this is the content of my .xession-errors:

initctl: Impossible de se connecter à Upstart: Failed to connect to socket /com/ubuntu/upstart: Connexion refusée
syndaemon: aucun processus trouvé
mdm[1552]: GLib-CRITICAL: g_key_file_free: assertion 'key_file != NULL' failed


I was suggested to do :

ALT+CRLR+F1
login
sudo apt-get install cinammon
sudo reboot

and that fix my problem.

ctrl alt F2
login
sudo apt-get install cinnamon
shutdown -r now

I used F1 does F2 work as well or was that a typo?
