Cinnamon doesn't always start.

Post by Sykal » Mon Jan 23, 2017 4:09 pm

I have a problem with cinnamon where it randomly crashes after loging and after 5 minutes it tells me it is running in fallback mode. The only thing I can see if the cursor in front of a black background and the GUI never appears. I have not been able to find a cause for this. Anyone knows if this is a reported bug or what causes the problem?

Is this a new installation - or a new problem on an old installation?

New installation. I think I have figured out the source of the problem. So far it seems that if my wireless headset has the usb dongle connected to the PC but the headset is not on, then Cinnamon will not start. But if the headset is turned on or the dongle is disconnected, Cinnamon will not have any problems starting. It has yet to fail but I'm not 100% sure it is the source of the problem.
