I use LM 18.1 with cinnamon.
When I open the sound applet from the panel, it sometimes gives me the option to open the active media player (the little arrow), but sometimes it doesn't.
I have not found a way to influence this behavior.
What can I do to make the applet always show the option?

Re: Sound applet
Hi,
When I do not have an application open that can play sound, the little arrow is always there.
When I do have an application open that can play sound ( VLC, Rhythmbox, Media Player, Brasero, etc), then the sound applet takes on very different characteristics.
Maybe you have an application open that can play sound and that is why you are not seeing the little arrow.
