Panel seems to jump/twitch

I don't know when this started, but my panel seems to have seizures once in awhile. Sometimes its when opening a new window, other times it just starts randomly. It persists through multiple themes, though I don't remember it doing it when I first installed Mint, so perhaps it's an update issue or maybe even an applet. I'm also using the latest nvidia driver rather than xorg. What are the recommended steps to test for graphical bugs in Mint 18.1?
