Desktop icons not going where I drag them

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth a million.

What exactly is going on here? This is just straight out-of-the-box Cinnamon (it behaved the same without the themes), with Auto Arrange unchecked but Align to Grid still checked. Some icons like Home, Computer, and Storage behave as expected, going where I drag them. Others, like all other drive icons, and sometimes Discord and Chrome (sometimes those two work, other times they don't) just jump all over and don't go at all where they should. Once one of them even jumped off the bottom of the screen, where I could reach it. I had to turn Auto Arrange back on, then remove and re-add the icon to the desktop to fix it. Why is it doing this and how do I make it not do this? I just want an open desktop with freely-movable icons like on Windows.
