I normally run two separate users - personal & work - and have them both logged in. However when I close the lid on my Dell Vostro, it does not suspend & if left in my bag gets hot....(It suspends without any problems when only a single user is logged in)
I searched the Internet for a way around this & the only solution I found was on a SUSE forum https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread. ... -logged-in . This requires /etc/polkit-default-privs.local to be edited which is not an issue, but since this file exact does not exist on Mint 18.2 I would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Howard

Hi
Same problem
Mint 18.2 cinnamon 64 bit
My boy has his own account on my computer
When he is logged on and tries to suspend, gets an error message in my logon

I've done digging and found related posts:

How is he connected? Remote sessions require a password, but the active local session can do it without one. At least that's the case for LM18.3 and LM19, I never used LM18.2. You can check or change the policy inmerlindrbike wrote: ⤴Sat Oct 13, 2018 8:38 am When he is logged on and tries to suspend, gets an error message in my logon

/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.login1.policy
, search for suspend-multiple-sessions
, it should say <allow_active>yes</allow_active>
a few lines below it.Re: How to get rid of "Authentication is required for suspending the system while other users are logged in"
Searched "ubuntu suspend-multiple-sessions", this was the 1st hit (works for 14.04):
