Hi, is possible quick search files in cinnamon mint?
I have a set of contract-frank.doc
In windows, in unity, in kde, in gnome, .............. I press Super Key (for me WIN) and write 'fran contract' ..
The contract will immediately find me. In linuxmint menu, it only searches for applications. I need another menu or utility that I run over a shortcut key and start writing ....
I do not want to open the file manager and just look for it.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Quick search files
Catfish might very well be what you're looking for. It's in the software manager.
The menu search in Cinnamon is indeed just that: a way to search for installed applications.

Re: Quick search files
I prefer gnome-search-tool (that's the package name) but catifsh is OK too. Try both from the repos, they don't conflict with each other.

I've the same problem since I updated from Mint 18.2 to 18.3
How to get back this useful feature in Mint menu?
I don't want to use external tools or it's possible to integrate the Catfish search in the menu search function?

Re: Quick search files
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon has never had this feature. If your question is not about Cinnamon, it's best to start a new topic.luke707 wrote:I've the same problem since I updated from Mint 18.2 to 18.3

Re: Quick search files
I agree with Hoser Rob. I have set it up that it opens via super-f.
