Do you have a /etc/xorg.conf file you could post the contents of?

In your xrandr output, this: eDP connected primary 1366x768+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 345mm x 194mm
shows that monitor is set right on the edge of the other monitor.

In the current configuration you posted, you could try changing it to this in your xorg.conf file: eDP connected primary 1366x768+1440+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 345mm x 194mm
This will put a little separation between the screens, which shouldn't matter unless you have a need to have items spread across both displays at once. This should put a little null space between the display edges.

I run a large separation between our displays, as in Steam games, when in full screen, if you whip the mouse accidentally out into second display territory, it will minimize the game. This separation with null space helped with that.

nacreous,

My apologies. Should have said to look in: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

If not there, open a terminal session, and typelocate -b xorg.conf to see where it resides, if present.

If you find it, can you copy the contents and reply back and paste contents in a

Code: Select all

code box
by clicking the "code" button option when making your reply, then press "Ctl + v"?

i found xorg.conf.d, it's a directory though

Code: Select all

locate -b xorg.conf
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d
/usr/share/man/man5/xorg.conf.5.gz
/usr/share/man/man5/xorg.conf.d.5.gz

ls /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/

If your current monitor configuration is still as reported in the code containing your "xrandr -q" results earlier
( eDP connected primary 1366x768+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 345mm x 194mm ), try this in terminal:

xrandr --output eDP --pos 1440x0

See if this separates your screen edge from bleeding over. Do you have any kind of graphical interface for your GPU driver? I ask, because I do not use Radeon personally, so not familiar with the available parameter adjustments, if any. If this worked for you, I believe it will only persist until your next reboot. It will need to get written elsewhere, and my familiarity would say in an xorg.conf file (that your system does not currently utilize). Hopefully someone with Radeon background will chime in and suggest where to make a permanent change.

Linux doesn't default to using an xorg.conf any more. It's highly likely the poster doesn't have one unless he or she explicitly created one in the past.

yup there's no xorg.conf at all. and afaik theres no gui setting for graphic card. im using proprietary driver from ppa.

im running this code
xrandr --output eDP --pos 1440x0
now my left screen now just mirroring right screen and has huge gap on its right side

and this is what "display setting" looks like

resetting it is easy though, just drag the monitor in display setting to the desire position. yes it still peeking through

not exactly the solution but,
adjusting h-position of my external monitor reduce the annoyance... and adding little 'dark bezel' on the right
