[SOLVED] MATE updates on CINNAMON distro
Why am I getting MATE updates (libmateweather, mate-menus, mate-panel) on my mint that is CINNAMON???

As far as the other stuff goes, check if they're already installed with
dpkg -l|egrep 'libmateweather|mate-menus|mate-panel'If they are then it's probably OK to upgrade them.
Re: MATE updates on CINNAMON distro
When Cinnamon crashes it has a fallback mode. Prior to Mint18.2 this used gnome-panel in 18.2 and going forward this uses mate-panel. Thats why you see those updates. It's all good
