Cinnamon 3.4.7 Menu Text Drawing Issue <SOLVED>

Post by N7_X »

Hello everyone,

I have a somewhat irritating issue, where the text in the menu will sometimes draw over other elements. This behavior tends to happen when navigating the categories on the left side, and goes back to normal when you move the mouse to the program list. Image

Any ideas? This happens on a clean install. I am currently running Mint 18.2(64 bit) with Cinnamon 3.4.7.

read your post the intel cpu came out in 2012 according to intel website

https://ark.intel.com/products/63915/In ... e-2_30-GHz

i believe that the lm 17 generation might work better for your system because your hardware is older hypothetically

this website gives information about linux mint versions and might help you find solution
website likes 17.1 best of the l7 version

Disabling "Fade effect on Cinnamon scrollboxes" in Cinnamon settings->Effects will fix this. This issue has been fixed in the upcoming Cinnamon 3.6 in Mint 18.3.
When I give opinions, they are my own. Not necessarily those of any other Linux Mint developer or the Linux Mint project as a whole.

Haha, I put up with this for a while, finally decided I couldn't wait any longer, and the Linux Mint team already fixed it
Thanks for your help!

Wow, has it really been that long? I know I've had this laptop for a while, but wow... (Just checked, laptop came out in 2013. So yes. It HAS been that long.)
I'd probably switch to 17.1 if it were a more serious issue, but I love the features and build of 18.x so much that I can't give it up now.
But thank you for those links! Especially the Intel processor link, I'd upgrade my processor if I could figure out what my MB supports.

Can't believe I never tried that... Thank you! Worked perfectly. Then a few days later I noticed that 18.3 came out, and that solved the problem anyways... Cheers!
