Icons on Cinnamon Desktop (Mint 18.3)

Hi all

Any idea on how I can avoid having Mint put icons on top of other icons on the desktop? For instance, my browser download folder ins the desktop and whenever I download a file, the icon for it is put on top of another icon on the very left of my desktop - why? My desktop settings are "align to grid" and "vertical" Any input would be much appreciated ...

Similar problem here.
After every restart the icons move and places themselves on top of each other. The "Computer", "network" and "home".
I have small icon size and vertical and no align. Other icons stays where I put them.
Except for the external USB harddisk. I always moves to the same place a bit from the left vertical edge.
I prefer/want all icons close to the left vertical edge/line/border.

Anyone who can tell me how to fix this?

Ok, thanks a lot, I tried this: dconf-editor: org > nemo > desktop and unticked the option "use-desktop-grid", let's see whether it works!

Hi!
Looked up the link above. Couldn't find anything usefull.
But I installed the dconf and did this, like above:
dconf-editor: org > nemo > desktop and unticked the option "use-desktop-grid"
also changed the vertical distance from 1 to 0,5
Restarted.
No diffference.

For me, this posted solution worked (after a reboot and one initial resorting of things on the desktop).
